Jean-Claude MAES
Honorary President of the Ghyvelde Tourist Office
President of the Association for the Good and Blessed Father Frédéric
The Good and Blessed Father Frédéric Janssoone of Ghyvelde always had the desire during his life and his stays on three continents to bring together people of all conditions and origins, embodying a missionary vocation that allowed him to gather thousands of individuals in a spirit of peace among all.
It turns out that our Good Father Frédéric, already designated as Blessed, is on the path to being canonized as a Saint by the Vatican.
Having in France only a simple stele in an open field, we wish to enhance this site with significant developments to accommodate many pilgrims, visitors, tourists, etc.
The aim of this Association for the "Chapel of Good Father Frédéric Janssoone of Ghyvelde and the Memory 39/45 Flanders/Quebec" is twofold, both religious and secular:
- To establish in France a place of remembrance at the site of the small Flemish farmhouse where the Good Father Frédéric of Ghyvelde was born, serving as a place for reflection, prayer, and fellowship.
- To create a memorial for all the Canadian fighters and soldiers who died for our liberation.
